I have fond memories of Edmund Irwin. A neighbor on Ford I believe, and a classmate. He's there in the class pictures from grade school on always with a smile.
So very sorry to hear this. Recently we chatted a few times on the phone regarding the inconvenience of chronic illness:) Delightful sense of humor, great attitude.
died in his wife's arms at his Indianapolis home on May 30, 2014. Born December 9, 1945,Ed was gifted with extra time because of a lung transplant last year. He donated his body to IU School of Medicine as "the least I can do to pay back."
Ed married his soul mate & best friend,Holly Willman, 42 years ago on February 12, 1972. Quiet, yet a terrible tease & punster, Ed was a devoted husband & father. A foster parent for some years, Ed took unabashed pride in his children. A philosophy of kindness guided Ed through life; his calm assuredness grounded those around him. Honesty was his hallmark;Ed believed in equality for all. Colts & Indy 500 fan Ed was both a bowler & a softball catcher in his day. Ed's passion was the game of pool - billiards. 8-ball, 9-ball, snooker; his competitive spirit reached new heights in league & individual playing. A break & run would keep him grinning for days. A true student of the game, Ed was a member of Central Indiana American Poolplayers Association (APA) & VNEA. His teams won a number of Playoff & Division championships. He won 9-ball MVP multiple times & Captain's Tournament in 2008. His teams qualified for a spot in Vegas APA National Team Championships for three years. He was particularly proud when asked to referee at national level in Las Vegas in 2009 & 2010. A member of Northeast United Church of Christ for over 30 years, he served in a multitude of capacities; Ed relished singing with the choir & ringing in the bell choir. Ed attended Speedway High School, Vincennes University & IUPUI. Employment included W.T. Grant, Govco, Roberts Dairy, & Pleasant Run Children's Home. Comfortable supporting others, Ed ultimately retired from running small businesses for entrepreneurs. Remembered with great love by, spouse, Holly Willman Irwin; children, Kelly Irwin Bradbury (Dana) & Karen Denise Irwin; grandchildren, Eliza Grace & Isaiah Edmund Bradbury; sisters, Sharon Lee Beck (Jeff) & Susan Kay Irwin; David "Charlie" Dungan, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins & a host of friends.
